Study Abroad Scholarships can be obtained directly from Universities
For college-bound students interested in traveling the world, there are study abroad scholarships, to help you advance your international studies. While many are offered by organizations motivated to strengthen international relations, there are some universities, (located throughout the world), which offer chances for U.S. college students to win scholarships for study abroad. The University of Glasgow Scotland offers 50 study abroad scholarships for students with above-average academic skills. Awarded as a tuition fee discount, the awards are the equivalent of approximately $4800 in U.S. dollars. More generous than that, The European College of Liberal Arts in Berlin offers tuition for a full year’s studies and includes a trip to Italy. These study abroad scholarships can be extended for up to four years, with an estimated value of $20,000 in U.S. dollars. The University of Brighton extends 40 study abroad scholarships for tuition reduction. These awards are the equivalent of more than $6000, but they consider academic achievements, in a number of areas. You must be enrolled for at least a year and have the financial means to cover the rest of the tuition cost. Rhodes Scholarships are offered for attending college exclusively at the University of Oxford. Rhodes scholars receive funding for two years, but it may be extended for three years, depending on courses studied. The competition is extreme and you’ll need to start the application process early enough to complete the different steps required. In the “Land Down Under”, the University of Melbourne in Victoria Australia offers 40 international students the opportunity to earn $10,000 towards reduction in tuition, while an additional 10 will receive 100% paid tuition, with another 10 students receiving a 50% reduction in tuition. Anybody accepted by the University of Melbourne is eligible for these study abroad scholarships, as long as they aren’t receiving any other scholarships for study abroad. These are just a few of the universities that offer study abroad scholarships for college-bound students. There are many different ones that cater to certain nationalities, but you can increase your chances of success by asking whether any tuition reduction programs are available. Few of them offer full tuition scholarships for study abroad. If you can demonstrate first-rate academic qualifications and you study hard for the admissions tests, you may qualify for reductions in tuition, based on financial need. When you plan to study in the UK or France, you may want to ask for information at the international office of the university you have in mind. Almost all colleges will contain information on their websites, about scholarships for study abroad students. Some colleges require a certificate of enrollment, in order to be eligible for study abroad scholarships. It’s possible to start searching for the foreign universities you have in mind and then, start discovering what scholarships for study abroad students they may have available. Depending on your particular area of study, you may find generous reductions in tuition and some universities may be able to steer you towards other award opportunities, if they don’t have any openings in their direct scholarship programs.
